To tackle the growing sustainability issues of data centers, TCO Certified is expanded to include network equipment, data storage products and servers. From December 12, brand owners can apply for product certification.

The data center package will be part of TCO Certified, generation 8. The majority of the criteria is the same as the current product categories. TCO Certified drives responsibility and transparency in the supply chain, and reduces or eliminates the use of hazardous substances in IT products. Certified products must be energy efficient and circular solutions are enabled through criteria focusing on product repairability. TCO Certified also helps purchasing organizations contribute to national and global sustainability goals.

The upcoming publication follows a review period where stakeholders have been able to comment on the draft criteria. TCO Development wants to thank all stakeholders who gave their input. All comments have now been answered.

More information will follow on the release date, December 12.
