Criterion 3.5 “Annualized PCF with scope 3 reductions” in TCO Certified, generation 10 states that scope 2 and 3 default values will be established for a number of product categories. The development of these default values has been slightly delayed. The list will be published together with all other supporting documents in time for the generation 10 launch on 4 December.
Criterion 3.5 also states that a list of best practice solutions to reduce the annualized PCF will be published by TCO Development and expanded over time. We’ve recently launched a research project aimed at identifying the first reduction solutions. The project focuses on increasing the use of renewable electricity in the manufacturing process (including final assembly, panel production, and semiconductor fabrication) compared to the current industry average. It is expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2025. Then, this reduction solution will be added to the list of “best practice reduction solutions” that is published together with all other supporting documents on our website.
Stakeholders interested in contributing to this project can reach out to us. By participating, brand owners have the opportunity to ensure that their data and specific manufacturing processes are considered in the research, allowing for more tailored and relevant outcomes.
