A more recent version of the standard ISO 7779 can now be used to measure sound power levels for acoustic noise.
The criterion concerning acoustic noise, requires that disturbing noises from fans and disk drives are reduced to comfortable levels. To provide comparable information about acoustic noise levels, the requirement has so far been to measure sound levels in accordance with ISO 7779:2010. Now, the wording in the criteria documents will be updated with the following phrase: “ISO 7779:2010 or newer versions may be used”, which means that ISO 7779:2018 is approved.
The criterion is applicable to displays, desktops, notebooks, all-in-one PCs and projectors.
