The final criteria documents for TCO Certified, generation 10, have been published. Here’s an updated timeline and information to help you get your products certified to the new generation ahead of the launch in December.
The timeline until the launch looks as follows:
Publication on 11 June
Finalized criteria and verification methods for TCO Certified, generation 10 are published.
Preparation period 11 June-18 August
Brand owners can contact an approved verifier and start preparing their applications.
Application opens on 19 August
Brand owners can now apply for product certification. If compliance with all criteria is verified, you will receive a confirmation that the product will be certified. On the launch day, 4 December, certificates will be released and products will be visible in Product Finder.
Priority deadline: 1 October
During the application period, verifying compliance with the criteria may take several weeks, as we need to establish routines and interpretations of new and updated criteria. Submit your application by 1 October to ensure your products can get certified before the launch. Applications that arrive later will be processed as quickly as possible but may not be ready in time.
Launch on 4 December
TCO Certified, generation 10 will be launched! Products certified to the new generation will be introduced to IT procurement decision-makers at an online event.
TCO Certified, generation 9 certificates
- TCO Certified, generation 9 will be phased out. The final day to apply is 3 December, 2024.
- Certificates issued under TCO Certified, generation 9 are valid until the expiry date and can be prolonged up until the final cut-off date, 3 December, 2026.
- Applications for TCO Certified, generation 9 will be processed at a normal speed (within five working days). Certificates will be issued as soon as compliance is proven.
- If you apply for TCO Certified, generation 10 at the same time, and request to cancel the old certificate on 4 December, the new certificate will be issued free of charge. The request to cancel the certificate must be included in the generation 10 application.
Upgrading certificates issued before 11 June 2024
- If your application is submitted before 4 December 2024, the cost of upgrading a generation 9 certificate is 2,850 EUR. (No handling fee will be charged during this period.)
- After this date, the fee is 3,350 EUR.
- By upgrading your certificate, the validity period is extended by one year.
