Following discussions with our stakeholders, we have revised the instructions for how a brand owner should submit information about security and functionality updates to an approved verifier in TCO Certified, generation 10.
The instruction published in the first edition of TCO Certified, generation 10 reads:
“The last year, the brand owner publicly committed to delivering such updates.”
It is now changed to:
“The number of years, the brand owner publicly committed to delivering such updates.“
The new wording will make it easier for brand owners to put out a general statement that certified products will receive a certain number of years of security and functionality software updates instead of having to list specific years for each product.
The change takes effect immediately and will be included in the next edition of TCO Certified, generation 10, which will be released on 4 December.
