To verify compliance with the criteria 6.4 Product durability and 6.5 Battery longevity, products must be tested by test facilities accredited according to ISO 17025. Until December 3, 2019, some exemptions are allowed.
From December 3, 2019 and onwards, all product durability and battery longevity tests must be carried out by test facilities accredited according to ISO 17025. Until then, test reports from test facilities which are not accredited according to ISO 17025 will be accepted if the applicant provides a corrective action plan describing how to ensure compliance with the ISO 17025 requirement from December 3, 2019.
Examples of corrective action plans:
- The current supplier’s test facility shows that they have started the process to become accredited according to ISO 17025.
- The brand owner switches supplier to one with a test facility accredited according to ISO 17025.
- The brand owner re-tests the products at a test facility accredited according to ISO 17025.

Alternative test methods also accepted for criteria 6.5
We can also accept alternative test methods to those specified in 6.5 Battery longevity, provided that the applicant can produce a gap analysis. It must be made by an independent verifier approved by TCO Development and show that the alternative test method is equal to the test method specified in the criterion.
