The TCO Certified, generation 10 draft includes new criteria for safer vinyl polymers. A current exemption for flame retardant and stabilizer additives in cables is planned to be removed. Ahead of this change, we have started listing substances that we have identified as viable, safer alternatives on TCO Certified Accepted Substance List.
Safer plasticizers are already a part of TCO Certified, generation 9. To allow manufacturers time to transition to only using independently assessed, safer alternative flame retardants and stabilizers in power supply and peripheral signal cables delivered with the certified product, we now list substances that have received an accepted GreenScreen benchmark on TCO Certified Accepted Substance List.
Check TCO Certified Accepted Substance List to make sure that the cable additive flame retardants, stabilizers and plasticizers you would like to use are listed. Any chemical additives that are not listed on TCO Certified Accepted Substance List must be assessed and approved, or replaced with a substance that is listed.
