The first IT products have been certified according to the updated TCO Certified sustainability criteria, advancing environmental and social responsibility in IT.
With the launch of its updated criteria, TCO Certified, the leading global sustainability certification for IT products for over 30 years, sets a new benchmark for environmentally and socially responsible IT. The first IT products from globally recognized brands – Asus, Dell, Eizo, HP, Lenovo, Philips and Samsung – have now achieved certification under these enhanced criteria. This milestone marks significant progress toward more sustainable IT products and represents another step forward in the long-term journey to minimize environmental impact.
By specifying TCO Certified, organizations not only make a reliable, verified choice – they also signal to the industry that sustainability is a priority. The collective demand from thousands of organizations worldwide accelerates progress toward lower climate impacts, improved supply chain conditions, reduced hazardous substances, and a circular future for IT.
“Our updated criteria raise the bar for sustainability in the IT sector,” says Sören Enholm, CEO of TCO Development, the organization behind TCO Certified. “We are also proud to announce that the first certified product models come from some of the world’s most well-known brands; Asus, Dell, Eizo, HP, Lenovo, Philips and Samsung. These companies have clearly heard the call from IT purchasers who rely on TCO Certified to demand more sustainable electronics. Together, we are driving real progress in the IT industry.”
The updated criteria address critical sustainability challenges across climate, substances, circularity, and supply chain responsibility. They provide IT decision-makers – including procurement professionals, IT managers, finance leaders, sustainability officers, and policymakers – with a powerful way to clearly communicate their priorities to the IT industry through their purchasing decisions.
