In our September issue of Technical Update we wrote about a touch panel exception for Displays, AIO’s and Notebooks. In this exception we had calculated our luminance requirement with a 99% confidence interval. We have now recalculated it based on a 95% confidence, which is the interval used throughout TCO Certified. We have also added a minimum color triangle area requirement for Displays and AIO PCs, based on these new results.

This touch panel exception is only valid for visual ergonomics testing.

Emissions testing is still required for Displays and AIO PCs. Currently we do not have enough data to make an exception for emissions. But if we receive emission reports for products with and without touch we can analyze them for a potential exception. Submissions may be sent to viktor.wennstrom@tcodevelopment.com

Exception requirements:

Display & AIO PC non-touch panel:

A.2.2.1 Maximum luminance of the tested panel shall be ≥ 240 cd/m2

A.2.4.3 The minimum color triangle shall be ≥ 30.9%

Provide a Declaration of Identity (DOI) for the touch-panel based on the non-touch panel test report.

Notebook non-touch panel:

A.2.2.1 Maximum luminance of the tested panel shall be ≥ 180 cd/m2

Provide a Declaration of Identity (DOI) for the touch-panel based on the non-touch panel test report.
